| Continuing the story from the big survey day
(05.06.02), Seth, Josh and I got to find out where the other side
of the tracks actually went. The
other side was nice and wide yet moist and hilly — quite fun. My side of the tracks is all pretty narrow,
but quite passable — especially with the mirrors taken off (ala Frong
mode). Unfortunately, my side
of the tracks is more suited for a REAL dirt bike because there were
places were just couldn’t get to with these heavy F650s (see below). |
| Steamy Saturday 06.01.02 |
| It was hot and humid…
well over 80 in the shade… temp lights came on and everything! |
| Josh, playing “king of the
hill”. This shot looked so
evil I had to put it up on this site.
Seth, to his credit, tried to get up this but failed to the
left. |
| Once we all got across the tracks, Josh took
the lead on the KTM and checked it all out. There were some very nice hills, a rock jump
that launched us easily, some thick puddles, mud, logs — you name
it. It’s nice to know there are still some places this good so close
to home. You can see by the
growth what a difference 1 spring month makes around here. |
| We made it across… tracks in
background. Good thing for engine guards and bash plates! |
| One of the primary hills to
get up into the good stuff (looking down). |
| Josh and Seth taking a break.
I (again!) took photos — my ride’s temp light came on, as did
Seth’s. |
| Josh coming back from his initial
“other side” survey… he had good news for us! :) |
| A typical straight section
of these trails. Nice and wide,
but watch out for those damn logs — they can throw you! |
| Seth going right instead of
straight up a hill on the narrow side of the tracks. Ironically, this
is the same hill from the 05.06.02 survey day that we have a picture
of him looking down on. |
| (Left) This is the first hill
you hit once you cross the tracks.
2/3 of the way up, you can go straight up to the flat section
or take a right and take a nice decent into some thick mud and some
fun stuff. Either way, you end up meeting again on the
other side of this hill. |
| Josh leaves the wider stuff
and heads for the thin stuff. He
had to wait for us a lot, but at the end of the day we’re the ones
who are street legal! :) |
